The residents of Barangay Digkilaan in Iligan City expected a huge number of people this Holy Week to see the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary formed in a piece of corn.
According to Virginia Ancho, the guardian of the corn, the image of the virgin became more clear for the past few years. An image of a woman with a crown, joined hands as if praying can be seen ion the center of the corn.
Ancho also believed that the image in the corn gave his grandchild a second life after its escape from the head injury.
The image called "Birhen sa Mais" was found by Barita Catalina in 2002 while picking up some corn that would be used to feed the chickens. Barita saw the image of one of his picked corn.
The experts or the Church can't examined the said piece of corn because Barita never wanted to take it away from her.
Barita died in 2012 and was buried near the altar built for the image.
