Ronwaldo 'Ron' Martin, the half-brother of Coco Martin has been hailed as the newest Indie Prince as he makes waves in the local indie scene. He starred in a lot of independent films such as Pamilya Ordinaryo (2016), Ari: My Life with a King (2015), and recently in Ang Panday (2017). These are only a few of the indie films that he starred at.
In Pamilya Ordinaryo, Ron starred as the female lead named Aries. He and his partner, Jane (Hasmine Kilip) were teenage parents, and they make a living out of stealing on the streets, that is until fate hits back at them. They won 14 awards out of 24 nominations.
In Ari: My Life with a King, is a Kapampangan Indie Film. Ron starred as Jaypee and he was tasked to bring the King (Ari) to a ceremony because he was recognized as a distinguished alumnus in the field of culture and the arts.
In Ang Panday, the immortal evil nemesis named as Lizardo has again risen from the world of darkness, and Flavio III has the bloodline of the Panday, the one and only person who is capable of destroying Lizardo.
Ron Martin has also been recently seen with his brother, Coco Martin, in FPJ's Ang Probinsyano. He's known as Roldan Marian, a member of the rebellious group called Pulang Araw (Red Sun). Below is a short scene where he is seen in the long running prime-time series!
Ron Martin is also a good actor, just like his half-brother Coco Martin and now that he's making his own mark in the showbiz industry through Indie Films, his brother is really happy with how his career is steadily growing towards the top.
Now that he's hailed as the new Indie Prince, he aims to be a better and a good actor. He has showed his great acting skills as well as his charm in acting. He also received his first acting award as the Best Actor in the Harlem International Film Festival in New York City. He said that "Finally I got to hook a trophy. I offer this award to my family: My mama, and Papa, to my siblings, especially to Kuya Dheng (Coco Martin) as well as my grandmother."
He has been interviewed a lot to, especially since with the link with his half-brother, Coco. He stated that he doesn't want to be a shadow of Coco Martin, but instead he want to be known for just himself. I want to have my own brand, but I also want to be in the drama section of the showbiz entertainment. I hope that I'll have more projects to work on in the near future.
Ron revealed that he also asks his brother, Coco, for some advice and tips on how he could also be a successful actor, and Coco said that "I should just be natural at acting. Professionalism is also important, since most people have hectic schedules when it comes to movies."
