You might assume that you know all about vrg!nity and hymen, but you are incorrect. All it need is a tiny bit myth busting and some facts, and we can turn the conversation around virginity.
It's not your fault because that is the problem with tales; some tend to think of them easily. Especially, in area where woman's status and value is defined by vrginity and where hymen breakage is a proof that she is no longer a vrgin.
1. Its is believed that intact hymen is a way to prove virginity.
If you have attended s*x education in your high school, there are chances that the hymen was described as an obstruction in your vgina that will break when you will eventually have an interc0urse, sometimes causing bleeding and pain.
The truth: Hymen means "membrane" in Latin, but it is not even a membrane at all. It is rather a ring of tissue around the inside of v*gina known as "vginal corona",shaped more like a doughnut.
2. Hymen lies deep inside your vgina.
Yeah, it lies deep inside your vgina and waiting for the perfect organ to break it. This is nonsense, the Hymen is actually very close to the vginal opening, most 1 or 2 inches away.
3. Everybody's hymen is more or less the same.
Like there is no perfect model of vgina, there is no normal hymen. The doughnut can be thicker towards the bottom, it can be made of a thick white tissue that is a little tougher or a thinner, pink mucus membrane.The variations in hymens account for why there are different ways for the people to experience and interact with their hymens, including losing their virginity.
4. Hymen can only tear from s*x.
Tearing of hymen from interc0urse is just as likely as tearing from something else. It can tear from splits, doing sports, or by inserting something into the vgina( finger or tampon). S*xually active girls have intact hymens and hymen can also heal.
5. Hymen is culprit for bleeding while loosing your virginity.
Bleeding while loosing your virginity has nothing to do with Hymen at all, because it is made up of a very thin tissue, supplied with little blood. Instead bleeding occurs due a thin tissue of the inside of vgina which is delicate and well supplied with blood cells. Since it is not used to pounding, it will bleed badly.
6. Hymen is the reason for first-time pain.
The vginal corona can tear multiple times during your life. It depends on the strength and the thickness of the Hymen and if it is enough stretchy to handle a small amount of pressure. 63 percent of girls in one study reported no pain at all, hence the amount of pain varies.
Pain while loosing your virginity maybe due to various reasons, but hymen tear is not the only reason. It maybe due to poor lubrication or vginal bruising.
