Ever Wondered Why You Shiver After You Pee?

There is nothing more refreshing than using a washroom when you want to empty your urinary bladder. Picture yourself holding your pee in because there's no washroom around and when you finally find one, it is definitely a wonderful feeling. 

But have you noticed that sometimes you shiver after you pee? Doctors call it 'post-micturition convulsion syndrome'. It is just a fancy term for 'post-pee shivering' but what could possibly be the reason for it? Let's find out here.

This phenomenon is mainly experienced by males. Not so common in females, but it may happen rarely. I've heard about this happening way too many times. But haven't understood the exact science behind it.

One reason could be your body temperature dropping down. 

Since urine is released from the bladder and the bladder is the core organ of the body, it results in your core temperature being dropped down.

You have allowed the warm urine to be released and that resulted in dropping of temperature.The temporary shivering is the response of the body to the lowering of body temperature.

It is probably like a knee j3rk reaction. 

It comes from within and you have no control over it. Just like how we close our eyes when we sneeze. It is regulated by our autonomous nervous system.


It could also be due to exposing your private parts. 

When we take a leak, we are obviously taking off our underwear in order to do so. This means we are exposing our private parts. When the warmer parts of your body are exposed to cool air, it brings out a reaction. That's why you feel a slight chill after taking a leak.

Whoa! I never knew something like that could even happen. Our body goes through so many physiological processes at one time and we're mind blown by just one.
