Rubbing alcohol is a solvent and can kill insects by dissolving their cells. Rubbing alcohol is also a desiccant, or drying agent, so it can destroy bed bug eggs by drying them out.
In addition, rubbing alcohol repels the bugs, discouraging them from crawling or laying eggs on a surface treated with the substance. Because of this, spraying bedding and furniture with rubbing alcohol has gained a reputation as an effective tactic in the battle against bed bugs.
- Get rid of bed bugs
-Purchase large sized bottles of rubbing alcohol or ethanol bed bug sprays. You can use empty spray bottles to fill up with rubbing alcohol to conveniently use throughout the house.
-Remove all bed clothing, sheets, pillow cases etc and seal them inside plastic trash bags. Before sealing, liberally spray these items with rubbing alcohol sprays. This will kill eggs, larvae and adult bed bugs and also deter new bed bug eggs.
-For very large infestations, bag all items, clothing and linen from every room and spray them with the bed bugs rubbing alcohol spray. Seal these items during the process of treatment.
-Wipe down the furniture including the box springs and headboards as well as electronic goods with wipes pre-treated with rubbing alcohol.
-To keep bed bugs from biting you when following the bed bug rubbing alcohol treatment, you can even spray yourself from head to toe with the alcohol before sleeping at night. This will protect you from new bed bug bites
-Experts recommend combining the rubbing alcohol bed bug treatment with steam cleaning as this can greatly improve one’s chances of getting rid of bed bugs completely.
- Antiperspirant replacement
Alcohol is another useful remedy to remove armpits odor. To stop underarm perspiration odor, gently rub some alcohol. Application of alcohol on the skin helps close the pores. It evaporates easily and reduces the smell. You can also add some alcohol in a mug of water and use it to rinse your armpits. But make sure you only use this briefly, because long direct exposure to alcohol can aggravate the skin.
- Homemade cool pack
Mix the water and alcohol together in one of your zip-top bags and add food coloring, if desired, until you get that perfect blue tint. Next, release as much air as possible and seal the bag. I recommend double bagging for strength Stick your new flexible homemade alcohol ice pack in the freezer for about 12 hours before using it for the first time. Once frozen it will be icy, a little slushy, and perfectly flexible for any body injury that needs the cold treatment.
- Kill lice
Comb your hair to remove the dead lice. Leave used cused lice combs soaking in the mix for a minimum of 1 hour to make sure all the bugs are taken care of.
- Clean your ears
- Remove fingernail polish
- No more ingrown hairs
- Clear your skin
- Cold sores
- Hand sanitizer
