Women's bodies are always changing. Sometimes changes that seem normal can be signs of cancer, though. The key is to pay attention to your body so you can notice when something's different.
The warning signs of breast cancer are not the same for all women.
The most common signs are a change in the look or feel of the breast, a change in the look or feel of the nipple and nipple discharge.
If you have any of the warning signs described below, see a doctor immediately:
- Found a new lump that feels different than the rest of your breast tissue
- Found a new lump that feels different from your other breast
- Felt something that hasn’t been there before
- Nipple discharge
A discharge from your nipple may or may not be a sign of breast cancer.
You should be concerned if the discharge occurs without squeezing the nipple, is bloody or clear and occurs in only one breast.
Nipple discharge can also be a sign of a breast infection or some other condition that needs treatment.
If you have breast cancer, it is best to find it at an early stage, when the chances of survival are highest.
